Because there aren't many partisan races on the ballot, our list of 2009 Democratic candidates is short and consists of the following candidates. These 2009 Democratic candidates were nominated by their local Democratic organization.

Even though there are few partisan races, local Democratic organizations still gather together to make endorsements in nonpartisan races. That endorsement can have many benefits, such as the right to list that endorsement on literature. In some cases, members of the local Democratic organization will campaign and doorbell for endorsed candidates.
